So, what’s a Vibrancy Vigilante?

It's been a journey discovering that for myself. This year marked the 10th anniversary of PHEAUXTOGRAPHY. I imagine most business owners out there would express that differently…

Something along the lines of,

“THIS YEAR I CELEBRATED 10 YEARS IN BUSINESS!!! YAY!!! 🪩😁🕺 💃 ”

That just wasn’t my experience. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely felt full of gratitude for having created something that's supported by so many amazing people, and that has supported them in return. The issue was that I found myself filled with these new uncomfortable truths I didn’t know how to handle. Reaching 10 years in business doesn’t just prompt reflection on the wins and lessons that came before it, but it demands intention in setting goals for the next 10. That scared the 💩 out of me as I began to realize the benchmarks I set for myself at 24 were no longer aligned with the person I had become a decade later. I also had to come to terms with the fact that my heart wasn’t fully in the projects I was being commissioned to create anymore. Over the years of relying on my passion to provide a steady living, I gradually prioritized opportunities that put food on the table but rarely ever made me “full.”

Oooowwww, sit with that for a moment! That was a word! I’m a lyricist😂

It wasn’t an immediate revelation, but in the months following PHEAUXTOGRAPHY’s anniversary, I let go of the anxiety around “what’s next” and found it replaced by the liberating notion of “it’s whatever tf I want!”

It might seem like a no-brainer to some of you out there, but it was genuinely an ‘ah ha’ moment when I finally realized that I too get to have a say in the art I create. In a climate where photography trends tend to lean more towards the dark, moody, and cinematic… my power isn’t in being skilled enough to mimic artists who authentically create from that place... my power has always been rooted in being myself. Now, my art is urging me to own that power and be brave enough to create the vibrant, kinetic content that sets my soul on fire. That’s not just what my heart demands, but it’s what my clients deserve. They consistently do the work to #SheauxUp for their brands, and I am so incredibly excited to be trusted to create vibrant, scroll-stopping work that allows those brands to unapologetically #SheauxOut. If that makes me and my bandits rebels, then I’ll proudly wear my title as their Vibrancy Vigilante.
